WEST VALLEY CITY – The Maverik Center has announced the second annual Rio Tinto Best of Utah NCAA Gymnastics Meet will take place on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Maverik Center. The podium event will be Utah gymnastics’ 2021 season opener and will be televised live on BYUtv at 7 p.m. MT, as well as broadcast on Utah’s flagship radio ESPN 700.
No. 4 Utah will begin the season vying for the program’s second-straight title at the Rio Tinto Best of Utah. The Utes cruised to the win at the inaugural podium event last year in West Valley City, topping in-state foes BYU, Southern Utah and Utah State in the second meet of the season. This year, the Red Rocks will begin on bars, while No. 17 BYU will begin on beam, No. 23 SUU on vault, and Utah State on floor.
The Maverik Center’s allowed capacity for the event will be around 1,700 fans based on the arena’s work with state and local health officials. To ensure proper social distancing measures, seating will be sold in pods of 1-8 tickets. Fans must purchase the correct pod size for their group.
The general public on sale will go live on Saturday, Dec. 26 at 10 a.m. MT. The three pricing tiers for this year’s quad meet will be $25, $39, or $45.
